Step into the bold spirit of mid-century islandwear with this electric blue vintage Pomare shirt, a rare XL gem from the golden age of Hawaiian polyester. Created in the USA by Pomare and registered under Hilo Hattie’s RN 37145, this shirt fuses two signature motifs: lush hibiscus florals in fuchsia and green, and interlocking Polynesian geometric bands - a nod to both nature and heritage.
The airbrushed gradient effect across the background gives this shirt a dreamlike dimension, as if seen through ocean mist. Pink and magenta hibiscus blooms vine their way across a sky-blue canvas, anchored by bold green Polynesian-style rectangles. Though the pocket is misaligned, the seamless integration of color and pattern still keeps the aesthetic cohesive and expressive.
Crafted with a breathable early polyester blend, it features a soft hand feel and a silky finish that glides smoothly against the skin. The open camp collar and classic single-stitch construction place this shirt squarely in the late ’60s to early ’70s - a sweet spot for collectors.
This XL cut is generously sized:
- Chest (pit-to-pit): 24 in
- Bottom hem: 23.6 in
- Length (shoulder to hem): 30 in
Condition is excellent with minimal wear. All original buttons are intact, and the colors remain vivid.
Pomare’s early work is getting harder to find, especially in larger sizes and bold palettes like this.
Don’t miss your chance to own this statement piece from Hawaiian shirt history.
